Halcyon Misgivings
There was a moment both alive and dead.
For me a sight, a memory, a thought.
To deeply reminisce is not to dread.
The inconsequential instants aren’t for naught.
I remember that vista skyline in my mind.
Immaculacy like the gold sought by avaricious souls.
Such serenity struck me as profoundly kind.
Liberation from life’s ambiguous coals.
Like countless things, it did not last.
Time goes on, and so do I.
While its impact may not be vast,
For me it remains to mystify.
A forgone conclusion of the delusion in my illusions,
Or simply an intrusion to assuage my confusion?
